Yota (4G internet) is the first Russian high-speed wireless network based on Mobile WiMAX.
WiMAX delivers up to 10 Mbps access at any time within the coverage area. The powerful connection is maintained even when moving at 120 km/h! WiMAX can truly claim to deliver always and everywhere.
Yota extends across five russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Sochi and Krasnodar, regions with populations of over 20 million people. The network operates under the standard IEEE 802.16e-2005 with very high frequency 2.5-2.7 GHz.
Current achievements
- Net coverage in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ufa is now over 90%.
- Subscription Mobile WiMAX devices are produced in different forms (4G USB modems, 4G Express cards, the world's first 4G phone and notebooks with a built-in mobile WiMAX module).
- Multiuser device, Mobile WiMAX/Wi-Fi Center, is available for companies.
- IT infrastructure is built-in which includes the authorization and authentication systems of subscribers, devices, software and websites.
- Own music, video, TV and social services as mobile resources are worked out.
- New agreements with majors supplemented Yota Music and Yota Video collections.
- Music catalog already contains over 600,000 tracks. Yota TV service was nominated for the Global Mobile Awards 2009 by the world's GSM Association in the Best Mobile Television Service category.
- Own media catalog has been produced which contains license records of the world's leading labels. Access to it is free on the internet for anyone.
